When I was asked to write a chapter for a book about how to respond to crises, I decided to write about what I know best: how our lives are shaped by our surrounding communities.

I believe that a crisis, by definition, is a time when we need to rely on one another. In a crisis, our old ways of carrying on will not work. We have to invent new tools and paths. To do that, we need community, and not just any community – we need a community willing to be transformed together. A crisis reveals taken-for-granted realities in our communities and society, and however painful it may be, a crisis hands us the opportunity to change these for the better.

In this podcast interview, I explain how you and your organization can embrace transformation during times of crisis.
